I admire that people are making their own resources using Excel or Access. But as a professional programmer and database developer that's what I do all day - I do coin collecting after work to decompress from all that.
So I went ahead and purchased ExactChange. I like it, but I have a couple questions for those who have mastered it.
First off I'd like to get a report that shows every coin in my collection together with pictures. Sort of like what you get from 'Varieties List' but that only shows one coin of each date/type, not all the ones in my collection. I can get full inventory lists but without pictures and I can get list with pictures but not of my full inventory. A full inventory report with pictures seems like an obvious feature so I'm confused why I can't find it.
Second, the price lists that come with ExactChange seem to be a bit high. For example I can get an MS64 RB Lincoln S-VDB for $1900 while the price guide in ExactChange has that listed at $3150. What's up with that?
Third, one thing that I don't like is that it only has a subset of grades, G4, VG8, F12. Well I have a G6 for example, so what do I do with that?
Lastly, I like that you can add as many images as you want of each coin. But you cannot sort the images, so for example I'd like to have the first two be obverse and obverse in holder and the next two be reverse and reverse in holder. I'm forced to do obverse, reverse, obverse holder, reverse holder. That's a bit annoying.
Any feedback, suggestions or advice is much appreciated. I tried to register at the exact change forum to ask these questions but it says I'm banned permanently because it has identified that I'm a gmail user. Even when I tried to register again with a different email, my UPenn work email that should not be banned, it continued to say 'Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum!' Looks like the registered my IP and so I'll have to try again from work. That's outrageous, I paid $80 for this yet they try to ban me permanently from their forum just for trying to sign up with gmail once..
